Hydro-Heritage Cities network that collaborates on adapting the know-how of the Urban Innovative Actions project Cultural H.ID.RA.N.T. in diverse local contexts. Coordinated by [now emeritus] Prof. Kostis Hadjimichalis, a team of scientists promotes the subject of Radical Geography to Greek academic and to general public, primarily through organizing seminars in Radical Geography and Political Economy with participation of university academics. Seminars are conducted in Greek but also in the (foreign) language of the guest from abroad. INDIGO is an inter- and transdisciplinary project, which puts the discussion about shared land uses, land property and use rights within the interdisciplinary context of ownership regimes and the ‘governance of the Commons’. INDIGO partners jointly examine contemporary concepts of land use, ownership and the Commons and ways to govern them. 

The first issue of this journal was released in 1986, and until the vol. 17 Historicogeographica was diplayed only in printed version. From the vol. 16-17 (2018) the journal is now available on-line at the above mentioned link. Languages of the journal Greek, English.

Nikos Moschonas, Historian, Research Director, Institute of Byzantine Research/NHR, excerpt of Preface: "The National Foundation of Research having as main goal to provide the historic continuity of Athens had organised in 1994 a series of twelve tutorials with main issue the Archaeology of Athens. The twelve scholars presented the most crucial and important issues of the history of Athenian urban and suburban space from pre historic times to modern ones. [...] instead of republishing the Foundation decided to make a digital edition of the conference along with important additions to the texts and references from historical sources and pictures. The most important texts are translated in English too. The conference of Archaeology of Athens and the edition were take place under the wing of the programme “Society of Information”.

The project ATHENS WESTERN HILLS was conceived and implemented by the nonprofit society Dipylon, in order to collect historical and cartographic data for the Ηills of the Muses, the Pnyx, and the Nymphs.

The core of ToposText is a very large digital library of classical authors enlivened by linking their work to a database of more than 5000 ancient places, archaeological sites, and museums in Greece or part of the broader Greek cultural world.

Based on the collections of the Gennadius Library and the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, it helps the user to navigate through the diverse and rich historical information contained in travel literature."

The French School at Athens is the first foreign institute established in Greece. Founded in 1846, it is a center of advanced research in humanities whose core mandate is the study of Greece in its Balkan and Mediterranean contexts, from prehistoric time to the present. This mission encompasses the training of a new generation of academics, facilitating early-career researchers’ access to the field and the sources. "The project assembles for the first time all the rescue excavations carried out in Athens in the last 160 years and covers an area of about 6.7 km² of modern urban space. The bilingual digital platform enables data retrieval from 1,470 excavation sites around two main axes: first, the use of space and second, the dating of the remains (...)." The project is a webGIS platform that displays on a single map the natural features and the multitude of remains of human activity from antiquity to the end of the 19th century, as depicted in the Maps of Attica. It was conceived and implemented by the Dipylon Society.

The 24 sheets of the  Maps of Attica (III–XXVI, 1:25000) were transferred to the digital by making the most of digital humanities technologies, especially Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and web mapping. The webGIS platform embodies a multi-level research program organized around four central axes:

• Synthesis of the thematic content of the Maps of Attica into a single map by classifying the amount of information of the original work into remains of human activity of all kinds.
• Distinguishing the contents on the map into surviving remains and damaged by newer activities.
• Translation into Greek of the Explanatory Text of the Maps of Attica compiled by Ernst Curtius, G. von Alten, and, especially, Arthur Milchhoefer; the text had never before been translated in its entirety into Greek.
• Recording of Attic toponyms.
